DATASOLUTIONS BECOMES DISTRIBUTOR FOR BLUE COAT SYSTEMS THROUGHOUT IRELAND

16 June 2009 - DataSolutions, Irelands leading value-add IT distributor, today announced that Blue Coat Systems, the technology leader in application delivery networking, has awarded the company distribution rights to Blue Coat products and services throughout Ireland.  The Blue Coat Application Delivery Network infrastructure combines network visibility, WAN optimisation and web security to help businesses contain costs while improving application delivery across the distributed organisation. 

The Blue Coat Application Delivery Network infrastructure enables organisations to improve application delivery, contain bandwidth costs and protect against web-based malicious content with integrated solutions that combine WAN optimisation and web security technologies. 

A recent worldwide survey of 1,000 IT managers and directors conducted by Blue Coat revealed that IT managers are losing control over what applications are running on their networks. The survey showed that 40% of bandwidth is being consumed by non-business critical applications such as Youtube, Facebook and LinkedIn. In addition, 50% of respondents reported that they believe that their IT departments dont know about 40% of the applications being run on their networks. 

Distributed organisations are facing the twin challenges of delivering ever more information to increasingly distributed users while reducing their overall IT budgets, WAN optimisation accelerates business applications and Web traffic to remote users while web security blocks or restricts access to inappropriate, harmful and non-business traffic. Irish companies are actively looking for ways to maximise the return on existing network investments and scale network infrastructure in line with business requirements.  In the coming months, DataSolutions will be delivering an awareness campaign aimed at promoting effective network utilisation policies.
